About The Association

The Workplace Injury Assistance Assoc Inc, a non profit Injured Workers Association formed to provide fair and impartial advice and to assist injured workers of Victoria in their process of lodging and conducting their workcover claim.

The Workplace Injuries Association will provide Information about the rights and responsibilities of injured workers in Victoria under the Accident Compensation Act. The Workplace Injuries Association will develop a sound knowledge base with resources and support with the ability to access Workcover Forms, establish a feedback facility and a guide to the Workcover Process and Dispute resolution process, that will make the workplace injury process smoother and more reliable by providing the right advice for Injured Workers of Victoria. The aim of the Workplace Injuries Association is to be able to reassure and to inform injured workers of Victoria of their rights and also their responsibility after a workplace Injury Claim has been lodged and processed and monitor legislative obligations of employers.

In the future the Workplace Injuries Association is hoping to be able to provide information about participating Legal and Medical advisors in their specific fields of expertise. Support and advice will be available to injured workers of Victoria during their dealings with their insurance doctors/rehabilitation and treatment providers.

The Workplace Injuries Association will be advocating for fair and reasonable changes to the Accident Compensation Act so that injured workers of Victoria will be treated fairly and be given the opportunity to state their cases in the correct manner, especially in areas that traditionally have been difficult.

The Workplace Injuries Association will develop meaningful communication channels through which the grievances of the injured worker of Victoria can be heard by the government and other key parties that can constructively influence the development of policy and legislation. The aim will be to participate in and constructively contribute to all committees, working parties and consultation groups that the Workplace Injuries Association are able to access.

The Workplace Injuries Association will encourage and support collaboration between Workcover and the injured workers of Victoria. Develop opportunities to assist identify and acknowledge permanently injured workers, identify and also communicate opportunities for improvement in the system with the aim of preventing others from a repeat of our adverse experiences, specifically:

A) Improvements in workplace safety.
B) Improvements in the way the workers compensation system treats injured workers in Victoria.
C) Improvements in vocational programs for injured workers in Victoria.
D) Improvements in retraining benefits for injured workers in Victoria.

The Workplace Injury Assistance Association will be the voice of injured workers in Victoria and the families of injured workers killed at work.
